2023 Election Strategy: Ndume Speaks On Buhari’s Support That Propelled Tinubu To Victory

In an interview with Channels TV on Friday, Ndume disputed the assertion that Buhari had withheld his support for Tinubu. He clarified that while Buhari was not actively involved on the campaign trail, he had, in fact, offered his backing.

Responding to those claiming Buhari did not support Tinubu, Ndume confidently stated, “But you know that I should know better than you on that. I know Buhari. If Buhari says he doesn’t like you, he even shows it on his face. He’s not the type of person to play a double game. Maybe you could say he did not actively work for him, but definitely, he supported the president.”

Ndume further emphasized that Buhari had repeatedly expressed his support for Tinubu, adding, “And he has said it time and time again. Buhari is the type of person that if he’s not supporting you, he will tell you he’s not supporting you. So it’s just this side talk there. I’ve not discussed with him, but I know that he supported Tinubu.”

Senator Addresses Defection Rumors

When asked about rumors regarding his potential defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ndume firmly denied any such intentions, reaffirming his loyalty to the APC.

On the speculation surrounding the potential withdrawal of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc from the APC to join the SDP, Ndume acknowledged the seriousness of the matter. He warned that the defection of any political faction should not be underestimated, emphasizing that every vote remains crucial in the rapidly shifting political landscape.
