Sh*ck As 20 Suspects Arrested For Hacking JAMB UTME Results — DSS, Police Bust Syndicate
Security operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Police Force have arrested 20 individuals allegedly involved in hacking the 2025 computer-based test (CBT) examinations conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The suspects are said to be members of a larger criminal syndicate with over 100 operatives, reportedly targeting digital examination platforms such as JAMB and the National Examinations Council (NECO).
According to AIT, sources within the security agencies confirmed that the arrested suspects confessed to intentionally compromising the CBT system. Their aim was to undermine JAMB’s credibility and dissuade future use of CBT for NECO and WAEC exams.
Investigations revealed the suspects charged candidates fees ranging from ₦700,000 to ₦2 million to manipulate exam scores. Many of the syndicate’s members reportedly own private schools and operate so-called “special centres” where exam fraud is facilitated for profit.
A security official disclosed that the syndicate deployed hacking software directly into JAMB’s hardware systems. This software remotely breached JAMB servers at targeted CBT centres by deploying high-powered routers nearby, which overrode the official platforms.
This method enabled paying candidates to receive exam answers in real time. However, the intrusion caused severe distortions in the system—mismatching candidates’ answers with unrelated questions—leading to widespread failure.
