In a judgment delivered on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, which lasted over eight hours, the three-member panel led by Justice Benson Ogubu struck out the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Agboola Ajayi.
Ajayi had alleged widespread electoral irregularities and urged the tribunal to annul the results. However, his claims were deemed unsubstantiated by the tribunal.
Similarly, petitions filed by other political parties—including the Social Democratic Party (SDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), and African Alliance (AA)—were also dismissed for lacking merit.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, had been declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after securing victories across all 18 local government areas and polling 366,781 votes.
With this ruling, the tribunal has affirmed Aiyedatiwa’s mandate, bringing an end to the legal disputes surrounding the 2024 Ondo governorship election.
