The reconciliation occurred on Sunday in Lagos during a private meeting attended by members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), who were said to have visited the President to plead on behalf of the governor and other state officials believed to have fallen out of favour.
According to sources present at the meeting who spoke with Arise TV, Tinubu made the conciliatory statement after GAC Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, led the delegation to welcome the President to Lagos and seek forgiveness.
“It’s all in the past now. All is forgiven,” Tinubu was quoted as saying, a declaration that reportedly brought visible relief to those in attendance.
In a traditional Yoruba show of respect and contrition, Governor Sanwo-Olu and several GAC members were said to have prostrated before the President.
Though the specific reason for Tinubu’s earlier displeasure wasn’t discussed, a source told THISDAY that there were no demands for explanations or further dialogue during the meeting.
