In its ruling, the court barred G.O. Ndubueze from presenting himself as the party’s chairman or interfering in the party’s operations under Otti’s leadership.

The court also invalidated the suspension of Emmanuel Otti by the Julius Abure-led faction, declaring it unlawful and unconstitutional, with no legal standing.

It further ruled that the 2024 Constitution used by Abure’s camp to justify the suspension was neither approved nor ratified by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as required by law.

Prior to the judgment, the Labour Party in Abia State had been embroiled in a bitter leadership dispute, with two factions claiming control of the party structure.

Emmanuel Otti, aligned with the Alex Otti–Peter Obi faction, consistently defended his chairmanship as lawful, while Prince Ndubueze remained loyal to the Julius Abure-led national leadership.

The ruling marks a significant win for the Alex Otti faction, which has staunchly resisted efforts by Abure’s group to take over the party’s leadership in the state.
