Buratai Cheats Death! Boko Haram Launches Deadly Ambush On Ex-Army Chief’s Convoy
This revelation was made by Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, June 8, 2025.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
While expressing deep concern over the worsening security situation in Northern Nigeria, Ndume disclosed that the retired general’s convoy came under heavy gunfire near a frontline military base.
According to him, the troops accompanying Buratai engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, managing to repel the ambush, although significant military assets were destroyed in the encounter.
Ndume stated, “We are in a critical security crisis. Just two days ago, Buratai’s convoy was attacked near the front operations base in Borno. His team responded bravely, but insurgents succeeded in destroying several key military assets.”
He further revealed that the insurgents specifically targeted high-value equipment such as Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs), tanks, and heavy machine guns. In addition to causing destruction, the attackers reportedly looted weapons and equipment from the site.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Ndume noted, “Borno’s security situation is rapidly deteriorating. Insurgents now move around freely, destroying and looting military hardware. This is quickly escalating into a national crisis.”
He emphasized that all six geopolitical zones are now experiencing varying degrees of insecurity, from terrorism and banditry to sabotage and economic crimes.
“Even the South-South is battling economic sabotage like oil theft. At the moment, the South-West seems to be the only region that’s relatively secure,” he added.
