According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, Umar Mohammed has lived with a psychiatric condition since birth. The police emphasized that the incident, which caused a brief disruption, was simply due to his overwhelming excitement to see the President up close.

“No incriminating item was found on him,” the statement confirmed.

A video of the moment has gone viral, showing security officers stepping in swiftly as Mohammed moved towards the President. However, Tinubu appeared unfazed and calmly told his security, “Leave him alone,” before proceeding with his address.

The incident took place during the commissioning of a 300-bed specialist hospital located in Millennium City, Kaduna — a facility named in honour of President Tinubu. The hospital was unveiled by Governor Uba Sani, who lauded Tinubu’s leadership and its impact.

“Your leadership is a beacon of light; it is working, it is changing lives,” Governor Sani said during his speech.

The inauguration comes at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with deep economic and social hardship across the country.
