President Bola Tinubu has assured Abuja residents that they will no longer fall prey to “one chance” criminals—fraudulent commercial drivers who attack, rob, and in some cases, kill unsuspecting passengers.

These criminals typically operate by picking up passengers at random spots across the city for the purpose of robbery, kidnapping, or ritual-related crimes.

Speaking on Thursday during the commissioning of the Kugbo Bus and International Taxi Terminal, Tinubu—represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio—declared that the threat posed by these criminals has been effectively addressed.

He noted that the construction of new, modern bus terminals across Abuja would not only ease traffic congestion but also provide residents with safer and more secure commuting options.

The president emphasized that his administration is committed to developing high-impact transport infrastructure and driving visible modernization across Nigeria’s transit systems.

“These terminals reflect our vision for transit-oriented urban development—smart mobility, efficient space use, improved parking systems, community involvement, and ultimately, better living conditions,” he said.

“With advanced security features like full CCTV coverage, your journeys are now safer than ever. We heard your concerns. We understood your fears. And we took action. With your cooperation, the days of falling victim to one chance operators are over,” Tinubu added.
