David Olofu Breaks Ties With PDP — What’s Next For The Ex-Benue Commissioner

Former Benue State Commissioner for Finance and Budget, David Olofu, has officially withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), bringing to a close over ten years of political affiliation with the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Olofu, who served under former Governor Samuel Ortom between 2015 and 2023, made his exit known in a resignation letter dated June 30, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of Edikwu Ward 2 in Apa Local Government Area. He cited his constitutional right to freedom of association and the need to pursue broader interests beneficial to his community and the state.

The letter stated:
“I wish to formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective June 30, 2025.
“This decision stems from my desire to fully exercise my constitutional right to freedom of association.
“I am doing this in the best interest of the people of Edikwu Ward 2, Apa Local Government Area, Benue South Senatorial District, and Benue State at large.”

Olofu, who also chaired the Forum of State Commissioners for Finance of Nigeria from 2019 to 2023, was a prominent technocrat in the Ortom administration. He is currently leading a newly formed political coalition in Apa LGA.
