Citing El-Rufai as an example, he revealed that the former governor and his political associates are currently backing candidates contesting elections under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), having already purchased nomination forms through that platform.

“There are elections happening before 2027 in which these parties are engaged. People like Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and his group have bought forms on those platforms,” Abdullahi said. “It only makes sense that they continue with the process under those parties. Once those elections are concluded, everyone involved is, in principle, part of ADC.”

He emphasized that the coalition is firmly united by a common goal: to prevent Nigeria from descending into what he termed a “one-party civilian dictatorship.”

“What we are doing is clear. Everyone who believes Nigeria must not become a one-party state is in this coalition,” he said. “If anyone has a problem with that and wants to allow Nigeria slide into a one-party system, then they can raise objections.”

Abdullahi, a former minister, admitted that the coalition would face significant hurdles on its path to 2027, but affirmed that its members are ready to face the challenges head-on.
