Save Nigerian Christians!” – Nnamdi Kanu Writes Emotional Open Letter To Donald Trump
Detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has penned an open letter to former United States President Donald Trump, alleging that the ongoing killings of Christians in Nigeria have now spread to the South-East, resulting in the deaths of many Igbos.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In the letter, released on Thursday, Kanu said that what was once seen as religious persecution confined to Northern Nigeria had now escalated into a full-scale campaign of violence across the country’s southeastern region.
According to him, the “mass killing of Christians” has reached Igbo communities, where innocent civilians are being targeted under the guise of counter-terrorism.
Kanu also told Trump that he had survived multiple assassination attempts allegedly carried out by the Nigerian government.
He wrote:
“I extend warm greetings to you in the name of the Judeo-Christian faith and values we both hold dear. As a practising Jew and a believer in the Judeo-Christian heritage that shaped Western civilisation, I was honoured to attend your campaign event in Des Moines, Iowa, in January 2020.
Your bold declaration on October 31, 2025 — that the United States is ‘prepared to act’ militarily and cut aid if Nigeria fails to protect its Christian population — has ignited hope in the hearts of millions who have been abandoned by the world. You have seen the truth: Christians in Nigeria face an existential threat.”
The IPOB leader said the violence had “metastasised into the Igbo heartland,” claiming Judeo-Christians in the region were being systematically exterminated.
Introducing himself, Kanu described IPOB as a peaceful, non-violent civil rights movement built on Judeo-Christian principles. He recounted surviving four assassination attempts by Nigerian authorities and detailed his 2021 “extraordinary rendition” from Kenya — a move condemned by a Kenyan court as illegal.
Kanu told Trump that Nigeria was experiencing a “hidden genocide” against Judeo-Christians, blaming the Nigerian military and government-backed militias for atrocities in the South-East and parts of Benue, Kogi, and Delta states.
“The same extremist-backed forces you have condemned in the North — Boko Haram, ISWAP, and Fulani militias — now operate with state complicity in the South-East. But here, the Nigerian military itself is the primary perpetrator, shielded by a false narrative that blames the victims,” he alleged.
He accused the government of weaponising insecurity to discredit IPOB, adding:
“Since my illegal rendition, Nigeria has declared IPOB a terrorist organisation without evidence, orchestrated ‘unknown gunmen’ attacks using state-backed militias, and killed over 2,000 Igbo youths under the guise of counter-terrorism. This is Rwanda’s playbook — create chaos, blame the victims, and justify extermination.”
