Rabat, known for its vibrant culture and world-class facilities, will once again serve as the glittering backdrop for African football’s biggest night. The city has in recent years established itself as a premier destination for CAF events.
The upcoming edition is expected to feature a strong Nigerian contingent, with several Super Eagles and Super Falcons stars nominated across major categories.
Victor Osimhen, the reigning African Player of the Year, will be aiming to retain his crown after another outstanding season in Europe. Meanwhile, Stanley Nwabali, who impressed at the 2024 AFCON with his penalty-saving heroics, has been nominated for Goalkeeper of the Year. Rising star Daniel Bameyi is also shortlisted for Young Player of the Year.
In the women’s categories, Rasheedat Ajibade (Atletico Madrid) and Esther Okoronkwo are both in contention for African Women’s Player of the Year, while Chiamaka Nnadozie (Paris FC) is a finalist for Goalkeeper of the Year after a stellar season for club and country.
Other big names expected to contest top honours include Mohamed Salah (Egypt), Achraf Hakimi and Yassine Bounou (Morocco), and Pape Matar Sarr (Senegal).
The 2025 CAF Awards will also recognise excellence in several categories, including Coach of the Year, Interclub Player of the Year, Club of the Year, and National Team of the Year.
