“Ambassadors are going to be appointed pretty soon,” Idris stated, noting that the selections have already been forwarded to security agencies for thorough checks.

The announcement comes amid heightened diplomatic discussions between Nigeria and the United States, triggered by security concerns and policy differences. Idris emphasized that despite recent tensions, engagement between the two countries remains active and constructive.

He further explained that some of the friction arises from misperceptions regarding Nigeria’s security situation. “There is no proper understanding of what the situation is about. This is the message we are taking to them,” Idris said.
