New Year Turns Tragic: Deadly Fire Ravages Party Venue In Switzerland

CNN reported that the blaze broke out in the early hours of Thursday at Crans-Montana, a renowned luxury holiday destination in the canton of Valais.
Confirming the incident, Valais police spokesperson Gaetan Lathion said the fire started at about 1:30 a.m. at the Le Constellation lounge bar.
“On the morning of January 1, 2026, a fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. at Le Constellation lounge bar in Crans-Montana, in the canton of Valais,” Lathion said, adding that there were “several fatalities and multiple injuries.”
He declined to give exact figures, noting that investigations were still ongoing.
The cause of the fire was not immediately established as emergency responders continued operations at the scene.
Lathion said more information would be released later in the day, with a joint press briefing by the police and the cantonal public prosecutor scheduled for around 10 a.m. local time.
Crans-Montana is known for its upscale ski resorts and draws large crowds each year, particularly during the holiday season.
