The report was submitted on Tuesday by the commission’s chairman, retired Justice Mu’azu Abdulkadir Pindiga.

Justice Pindiga stated that the commission uncovered widespread financial irregularities, including breaches of existing laws, abuse of office, and non-compliance with due process during the previous administration.

He explained that the alleged misappropriation primarily resulted from violations of procurement laws, weak financial controls, and misuse of executive powers.

The commission was tasked with scrutinising the former administration’s conduct through verifiable records and sworn testimonies, in line with constitutional provisions and public interest.

Justice Pindiga noted that the report is structured into five main sections: the background of the inquiry, testimonies received, detailed findings, recommendations, and a concluding summary to guide government action.

The inquiry examined contracts, financial documents, and other official records, while also hearing from witnesses drawn from ministries, departments, agencies, and other stakeholders linked to the previous administration.

He commended the commission members for their dedication, professionalism, and integrity, highlighting that the investigation was carried out without fear or favour.

In receiving the report, Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu stressed that the panel was established as a constitutional duty, not as a political vendetta.

He added that a committee would be formed to prepare a white paper based on the commission’s findings, assuring that the process would be conducted with fairness and sincerity toward all parties involved.
