Veteran journalist and former presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, has offered a candid glimpse into his marital life.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking during a recent interview with media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown, Abati discussed marriage, respect, and cultural expectations, revealing that age alone does not grant him authority in his home.

He noted that, as the older partner, there are times when he feels his wife interacts with him too freely. Yet, whenever he attempts to assert his seniority, she firmly reminds him of her stance.

According to Abati, his wife insists on being treated as an equal partner and refuses to follow certain traditional practices. She does not kneel to show submission and has made it clear that she will not be silenced or pressured into conformity.

He recounted that she once bluntly told him: if he wanted a wife who strictly adhered to village traditions, he should return to his hometown to find one.

Abati said, “Sometimes, as the older person, I feel my wife gets too familiar. I said, ‘I am older than you,’ and she replied, ‘Do you want me not to talk? I cannot kneel. If you want that kind of wife, go back to your village.’”

The former presidential aide is married to Kikelomo Abati, popularly known as Kiki Atanda-Owo, a broadcaster and CEO of Z-Edge Holdings.
