Ali Shamkhani, a senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reiterated the position on Wednesday during events marking the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
“Iran’s missile capabilities are not subject to negotiation,” Shamkhani said, according to state media.
His remarks follow indirect talks between U.S. and Iranian officials in Oman last week, held amid continued American naval deployments near Iranian waters.
The United States has long sought to broaden nuclear discussions to cover Iran’s missile programme. While Tehran has indicated openness to negotiating limits on its nuclear activities in return for sanctions relief, it has consistently refused to include its missile arsenal in any agreement.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi reinforced that stance on Sunday, stressing that Iran’s missile programme has never been part of the negotiations and will not be added.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet President Donald Trump in Washington on Wednesday. Netanyahu is expected to press for any future agreement with Iran to address its missile capabilities — a proposal Tehran has already firmly dismissed.
