He made the remark during an interview on Channels Television, responding to discussions about confrontations and heated exchanges among senators during plenary sessions.
The conversation took a playful but tense turn when the programme’s host, Seun Okinbaloye, joked that the senator might be too old to handle physical altercations on the Senate floor and could end up on the losing side.
Ndume responded firmly, saying he only takes on challenges he can handle and expressed confidence in his ability to defend himself. He also joked that if the host tried to provoke him, he would deal with him directly.
He said, “I don’t pick a fight that I cannot win. Like you now, if you try me, I’ll beat you up because I know I can beat you. By the end of this meeting, let’s go out, and you’ll see how I’ll handle you.”
The remarks come in the wake of a heated exchange involving Ndume, Adams Oshiomhole, and Nwaebonyi during last week’s national budget debate.
