Speaking during the budget defence of the Committee on Women Affairs, Natasha accused the Committee Chairman, Ireti Kingibe, of excluding her from certain committee matters.

She highlighted the limited female representation in the Senate and raised concerns over an invitation to attend the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) event in New York.

According to Natasha, she was informed of the invitation and asked to submit her passport for processing. Despite responding within three hours, she was later told by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs that she could no longer participate due to an allegedly delayed response.

The senator also questioned the lack of coordination and solidarity among female senators for such an important global women’s event, pointing to her exclusion from the process.

She stated:
“I was only informed about the event yesterday at 1:00 pm and immediately submitted my passport. Despite my prompt response, I was later told it was too late and that I would not be attending.

“I should not be treated differently from other women, especially when it comes to an event dedicated to advancing the welfare of women.”
