The directive was announced on Saturday in a statement by the group’s Director-General and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma.

According to the statement, the initiative is designed to foster national unity and extend support to citizens during a period of spiritual reflection for both Muslims and Christians. Uzodinma said the programme underscores the President’s commitment to compassion, solidarity, and shared values during religious observances.

He noted that Ramadan and Lent are seasons that emphasise sacrifice, generosity, and care for others.

The governor explained that the rice distribution would be implemented through the group’s nationwide grassroots structure to ensure that households across the country benefit from the effort.

He added that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors would coordinate the exercise across all regions, ensuring that families experience a sense of togetherness during the fasting season observed by both faith communities.

The statement further indicated that the current intervention follows a similar initiative carried out during the Christmas period, when rice was distributed to support Nigerians during the festive celebration.

Uzodinma said the programme reflects the administration’s ongoing commitment to assisting citizens during important religious and cultural events, adding that the distribution would reach both Muslim and Christian communities in line with the President’s emphasis on inclusiveness and national cohesion.
