2027 Tension Builds As APC Reacts To Obi And Kwankwaso Political Moves

Obi, alongside former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, attended an Eid-el-Fitr celebration hosted by Kwankwaso.

The gathering took place on Sunday at Kwankwaso’s residence on Miller Road, Kano, and also had the presence of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. Kwankwaso described the meeting as a moment of unity and celebration, stating that he was delighted to host the guests and wishing Nigerians peace and prosperity.

However, the APC in Kano reacted with surprise, questioning the political implications and timing of the gathering. The party’s Publicity Secretary, Auwal Mai-Nage, told Punch that the meeting was unexpected and did not align with the political realities in the state.

He said the party was surprised by what it described as an emerging alignment between Obi and Kwankwaso, arguing that the engagement raised questions about political strategy and priorities.

Mai-Nage also criticised the scale of attendance at the event, claiming it was low despite the presence of high-profile politicians, and suggested that even local political figures could have attracted larger crowds.

He further alleged that Obi’s political engagements are driven by regional interests and expressed disappointment that Kwankwaso, a prominent northern political figure, would associate with such alignments.
