The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has rejected claims by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, that he was positioned to destabilise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Wike alleged that prior to the party’s recent national convention, Mohammed approached him with a request to determine who would emerge as the PDP’s National Secretary, a demand he said he refused.
He made the remarks while inspecting ongoing projects in Jahi and Kuje, Abuja.
The FCT Minister also claimed that in 2022, Mohammed urged him to support Bola Ahmed Tinubu, then the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the 2023 election, but later reversed his position within days.
Wike criticised the Bauchi governor for what he described as inconsistency, accusing him of frequently changing positions.
He also dismissed Mohammed’s reported demand for the PDP National Secretary position for his faction, describing it as unrealistic given his current political standing.
According to Wike, the PDP’s recent convention has demonstrated that the party remains strong despite internal disagreements, which he said are normal and will be resolved.
He further cautioned Nigerians against politicians who frequently shift positions, urging them to be wary of leaders who lack consistency.
Wike reaffirmed his commitment to remain a member of the PDP while continuing his support for President Tinubu, noting that his stance has remained unchanged since 2022.
