He signed a 12-month agreement with Washington-based firm Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C. valued at $1.2 million (approximately ₦1.9 billion).
According to documents filed with the U.S. Department of Justice and reported by Premium Times, the contract was signed on March 10 and officially registered with the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) Unit on April 1.
Under the agreement, the firm will provide strategic advisory services, engage with U.S. congressional and executive officials, and manage Atiku’s public image among key policymakers in Washington.
The lobbying firm is also expected to advocate to U.S. officials on matters relating to Nigeria, including democratic governance, regional stability, economic growth, and bilateral relations. In addition, it will help shape Atiku’s policy messaging and coordinate engagements with U.S. stakeholders.
The contract outlines key objectives such as promoting understanding of Atiku’s leadership vision, strengthening his reputation in the United States, countering narratives from the current administration, and building relationships with American institutions.
Services will also include preparing policy briefs, organizing meetings with lawmakers and government officials, and advising on political and reputational risks.
Atiku, who recently moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is expected to seek the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
