Sevilla suffered a third consecutive league loss on Sunday, April 5, after a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Real Oviedo, who are currently bottom of the table with 24 points from 30 matches.
Tensions escalated when a group of supporters confronted the team’s players and coaching staff at the airport upon their return, hurling insults. In a separate incident, masked individuals reportedly gathered at the club’s training ground.
La Liga described the actions as crossing the line, stating that they go beyond acceptable criticism and sporting expression.
The league has confirmed that it will report the incident to Spanish authorities and warned that further action will be taken if such behaviour continues. It also recalled that earlier in the season, fans had attempted to force their way into the training facility to confront players.
La Liga emphasized that anyone who resorts to threats or intimidation can no longer be considered a supporter, adding that it will take firm action against such conduct.
Sevilla, meanwhile, are struggling in the league, having gone five matches without a win and currently sitting 17th—just two points above the relegation zone—with eight games remaining.
