Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, Sowore explained that although the movement had visible leaders, authorities were uncomfortable with figures they could not easily control. He noted that Davido was actively involved in meetings during the protests until a turning point occurred when the singer travelled to Abuja for a meeting with former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

According to Sowore, Davido was informed upon arrival that he could be investigated over the alleged murder of one of his aides, a development that reportedly changed his stance. “He was present at every meeting, but when he got to Abuja and heard that, he distanced himself, saying he didn’t come there to protest,” Sowore said.

Meanwhile, Davido has recently indicated a shift in his personal outlook, revealing that he is no longer as interested in politics as he once was. During a Twitch livestream on April 5, 2026, he explained that while he previously considered venturing into politics, his perspective has changed after observing the experiences of other celebrities in the space.

The singer noted that many entertainers who transitioned into politics did not achieve the level of success expected, making him more cautious about such a move. He added that politics requires a different kind of commitment, suggesting that it is a path best suited for those fully dedicated to it.
