According to Sahara Reporters, the Nigeria Police Force has commenced an inquiry into the matter.
A formal “Letter of Invitation” dated April 7, 2026, and obtained by the publication, showed that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit directed the commissioner to appear at Force Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, to respond to the allegations.
The letter, signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mayamba Magomya Aliya on behalf of the Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, stated that her name “featured prominently” in a petition currently under investigation.
“This office is investigating a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Attempted Murder, Threat to Life, Assault and Causing Grievous Bodily Harm reported to the Inspector General of Police in which your name featured prominently,” the letter read.
The invitation was issued under the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015.
It further stated: “This invitation is in pursuance of section 53 (2)(a) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015. Your cooperation in this regard would be highly appreciated, please.”
Meanwhile, security sources quoted by the publication claimed that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is allegedly pressuring the police to halt questioning of the commissioner.
The sources said the governor is reportedly opposed to further interrogation over alleged financial misconduct, although the current investigation is said to be unrelated to state finances.
“Ondo State finance commissioner Omowumi Isaac is under interrogation, but Governor Aiyedatiwa is pressuring the police to stop questioning her over financial shenanigans in the state,” a source alleged.
The police, however, maintained that the invitation is aimed at allowing the commissioner to “shed more light on the allegations.”
Although full details of the incident remain unclear, the petition is said to be serious enough to attract the attention of the Inspector General of Police’s office in Abuja.
