Atiku stated that this lack of experience significantly contributed to Jonathan’s challenges in governance and ultimately played a role in his defeat in the 2015 presidential election.

He made the remarks during an interview on Arise News, where he stressed the importance of experienced leadership in managing national affairs.

According to him, Jonathan is “a decent young man but also inexperienced,” adding that this affected his ability to effectively handle the responsibilities of leadership.

Atiku used the opportunity to advocate for competent and seasoned leadership at the national level, arguing that Nigeria requires leaders with the necessary experience to govern effectively.

Meanwhile, Atiku has also revealed that the 2027 presidential election will be his final attempt at contesting for the office of President of Nigeria, describing it as a high-stakes race.

The African Democratic Congress (African Democratic Congress) chieftain added that he represents both continuity and future direction in Nigerian politics.

He further argued that many younger political leaders seeking power have not met public expectations, insisting that they still require guidance and experience from older generations.
