The footage, made public shortly before Trump addressed reporters, reportedly captures the suspect rushing into the Washington Hilton ballroom, bypassing security metal detectors as armed agents moved quickly to stop him.
Describing the individual as a “would-be assassin,” Trump said the suspect was heavily armed and had breached a key security checkpoint.
According to BBC reports, the President said the suspect “charged past a security checkpoint” while carrying multiple weapons.
Images shared by Trump showed a shirtless man lying face down in the foyer with his hands restrained behind his back, believed to be the suspect involved in the incident.
Authorities have confirmed the suspect is in custody. Trump also disclosed that a law enforcement officer was shot during the chaos but survived because he was wearing a bulletproof vest.
The shooting occurred Saturday night during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, a major event attended by senior government officials, journalists and other dignitaries.
