The former Big Brother Naija winner had earlier stated that she would rather raise pets than become a biological mother, a comment that triggered mixed reactions online.
Reacting via her social media page, Phyna described the backlash as unfair, accusing critics of holding outdated views.
She expressed frustration over the insults directed at her, saying many people were too quick to judge a deeply personal decision without understanding her reasons.
The actress explained that her choice is rooted in her upbringing, noting that her childhood experiences have shaped her views on parenting and made her hesitant about raising children.
According to her, she fears becoming the kind of parent she experienced growing up, something she does not want to repeat.
Because of that, she believes remaining child-free is a more responsible decision than stepping into a parental role she does not feel prepared for.
She wrote: “Dumb country people, so me not wanting a child is what makes me a failure… y’all brains is still stuck in the 60’s era… Me wey dem born how them take care of me. I don’t want to bring a child in. I’m scared of becoming a parent like the one I had… and that’s on period.
