Speaking during his formal reception at the PDP secretariat in Owerri, Madumere said his exit from the APC was not driven by personal grievances but by the belief that the party no longer reflects the principles he once embraced.

According to him, the APC has drifted from rewarding loyalty and commitment, while treating dedicated members unfairly.

Madumere said he could no longer remain in a system where those who contributed to the party’s growth are not valued, adding that the APC no longer aligns with his political vision.

On returning to the PDP, he said he believes the party offers a stronger platform for restoring direction, unity and good leadership in Imo State.

He described the move as more than a personal political decision, saying it reflects a renewed commitment to the future of the state and the welfare of its people.

The former deputy governor pledged to work with party members to strengthen unity, deepen grassroots participation and promote fairness within the PDP.

Reflecting on his political journey, Madumere said he entered politics more than two decades ago to support good governance, loyalty and development, but became disillusioned when he realised those ideals could no longer be pursued within the APC.

He expressed confidence that the PDP’s vision aligns with his convictions, adding that the party presents hope for genuine progress, particularly for young people.

Madumere also promised to use his experience to support the party’s growth, attract more supporters — especially youths — and help strengthen its structure.

He thanked PDP leaders at the national and state levels for welcoming him and his supporters, describing the reception as a sign of inclusion.

He further pledged support for policies aimed at improving living standards, creating jobs, stimulating the economy and expanding infrastructure across Imo communities.
