₦50 Million Sh*cker: Labour Party Nigeria Sets Price For Presidential Forms, Fixes Primary Date

According to the schedule, primaries for State Houses of Assembly and governorship positions will be held on May 27, 2026, while those for the National Assembly and the presidential ticket are set for May 29, 2026.
The details were announced in a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, who noted that the timetable aligns with the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party stated that the sale of nomination forms will begin on May 6, 2026, and close on May 16, 2026. Submission of completed forms is scheduled from May 17 to May 18, 2026.
Screening of aspirants for House of Assembly and governorship positions will take place on May 20, 2026, while National Assembly and presidential aspirants will be screened on May 22, 2026. The results of the screening will be published on May 23, 2026.
Appeals for House of Assembly and governorship aspirants are slated for May 24, 2026, while those for National Assembly and presidential aspirants will be heard on May 25, 2026. The final list of cleared candidates will be released on May 26, 2026.
On nomination fees, the party fixed ₦3 million for House of Assembly aspirants, ₦5 million for House of Representatives, and ₦10 million for Senate hopefuls.
Governorship aspirants are required to pay ₦25 million, covering ₦5 million for the expression of interest form and ₦20 million for the nomination form. The party noted that Abia State Governor Alex Otti will receive his form free of charge.
For presidential aspirants, the total fee is set at ₦50 million, comprising ₦10 million for the expression of interest form and ₦40 million for the nomination form.
The party also announced concessions, stating that women, persons with disabilities, and youth aged 25 to 30 will only be required to pay for the expression of interest forms across all categories.
It explained that the initiative reflects its commitment to “equal opportunity and social justice.”
The party further urged individuals interested in contesting under its platform who are yet to register as members to take advantage of the ongoing e-registration process before the May 4, 2026 deadline.
