The meeting is expected to determine the minimum Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) cut-off marks, as well as other admission guidelines for universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions for the 2026/2027 academic session.

JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that the meeting will hold in Abuja and will bring together key stakeholders in the education sector.

He added that the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, is expected to outline major policy directions for the upcoming admission exercise during the session.

According to the statement, the policy meeting will formally set the framework for the 2026/2027 admission process and ensure strict compliance with approved guidelines by all institutions.

Participants expected at the meeting include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers from tertiary institutions across the country.

Representatives from key regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission, National Commission for Colleges of Education, and National Board for Technical Education are also expected to attend.

Benjamin explained that the meeting will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to review challenges affecting admissions and agree on a unified framework for the new academic session.

He also noted that goodwill messages will be delivered by organisations including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps, highlighting the importance of coordinated planning in the education sector.

The statement further revealed that the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NATAP-M) will also be held during the event.

According to JAMB, the initiative has strengthened compliance with admission standards and improved transparency in the tertiary education admission process.

The outcomes of the meeting are expected to guide institutions in conducting admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
