In a statement issued in response to a press briefing held in Abuja by a group known as the Obidient Movement Rebrand, Tanko insisted that the Obidient Movement does not recognise any parallel leadership or structure.
The group had reportedly announced the expulsion of Peter Obi and Tanko from the movement.
Reacting to the claim, Tanko dismissed the announcement, stressing that the group has no authority or legitimacy within the Obidient Movement.
He urged the public and the media to disregard the group, accusing its members of deliberately trying to create confusion.
The statement read: “We became aware of the activities and announcements by some individuals and groups who are trying to operate under names and structures that are meant to create confusion about who they are, who leads them, or any changes that are happening.
“To avoid any confusion, the Obidient Movement does not acknowledge any other groups, divisions, or leaders beyond its official leadership, which aligns with His Excellency, Peter Obi.
“The public, media, supporters from Nigeria and the diaspora, and all related parties have been informed that any group using a similar or disguised identity does not represent the Obidient Movement, its principles, and leaders.”
