Music Industry Buzz As Mr Eazi Reveals Why He No Longer Listens To Burna Boy

The Skin Tight crooner explained that he deliberately avoids Burna Boy’s music in order to preserve the uniqueness of his own sound and prevent his style from being influenced.

Speaking during the Afropolitan Podcast, Mr Eazi clarified that his decision has nothing to do with bad blood or dislike for Burna Boy. Instead, he noted that he has great admiration for the Grammy-winning artiste but prefers to keep some distance from his music to protect his creative identity.

According to the singer, both he and Burna Boy share similar deep vocal textures, which could make him subconsciously adopt Burna Boy’s style if he listens to his songs too frequently. He said Burna Boy’s musical approach is highly distinctive and powerful enough to unintentionally shape the way he records music.

Mr Eazi added that maintaining originality is important to him, stressing that he does not want fans to feel his music is losing the unique sound that first brought him recognition.

“I don’t like listening to Burna Boy’s songs. I’ve said it before, I don’t want my music to start sounding like his. I don’t want my sound to drift,” he said.

The two artistes previously worked together on the song Miss You Bad, which appeared on Mr Eazi’s 2018 project, Life Is Eazi, Vol. 2 – Lagos To London.
