The anti-corruption agency announced the development in a notice published on its official platform on Friday.

In the notice, the EFCC urged anyone with useful information about her whereabouts to report to any of its offices using the contact details provided.

According to the commission, Farouq, who is 52 years old and hails from Zamfara State, last resided at EN008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja. She served as minister from 2019 to 2023 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The action follows an earlier ruling by a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo on April 16, 2026, where Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie issued a warrant for her arrest after she and another defendant failed to appear in court for arraignment.

The court also approved the arrest of Bashir Nura Alkali, a permanent secretary in the ministry. Both defendants, alongside Sani Mohammed, are facing a 21-count charge filed by the EFCC.

The charges relate to alleged criminal breach of trust and abuse of office connected to public funds linked to a social intervention programme.

According to the EFCC, approximately $1.3 million and ₦746.6 million were allegedly misappropriated. The commission claimed that part of the funds, which were expected to be returned to the ministry after programme disbursements, were instead diverted for personal use.
