Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has rejected reports claiming that the Supreme Court invalidated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention held in Abuja on March 29–30, 2026.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

His reaction follows claims circulating around a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Supreme Court judgment on the PDP leadership dispute, which allegedly suggested that the Wike-aligned faction lost control of the party. The reports also claimed the court described the Abuja convention as illegal and upheld the suspension of key figures in the faction, including Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Kamaldeen Ajibade.

However, speaking on ARISE Television on Saturday, Olayinka insisted that such claims were false, arguing that the issue of the March 29 convention was never before the Supreme Court.

He maintained that the matter of suspension being referenced had already been addressed at the Court of Appeal and merely affirmed by the Supreme Court.

According to him, “No, it is a lie. The issue of the March 29 convention was not in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is not a father Christmas. There was no contention on that point. What was not taken to court cannot be decided by the court.

“What went to the Supreme Court originated from the Appeal Court. What they are saying is that Sam Anyanwu was suspended by the Appeal Court and the Supreme Court only affirmed that decision.

“If his name was not mentioned in the Court of Appeal judgment, then how would it suddenly appear at the Supreme Court level? His name was not mentioned.
