With matchdays 37 and 38 expected to determine the league title, continental qualification spots, and relegation battles, the league management has insisted that all fixtures must be played simultaneously to ensure fairness and protect the integrity of the competition.
In a circular signed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, clubs were reminded that all remaining matches are scheduled for the same date and will kick off at 4:00 p.m. simultaneously.
Owumi stated, “It has become necessary to remind all clubs that the remaining games of Matchday 37 and 38 will be played at the same time and date, with a 4pm kick-off. This is to guarantee sporting fairness and protect the integrity of the league.”
The NPFL further ruled out any requests for fixture adjustments or changes in kick-off time, even in cases involving venue challenges.
Clubs unable to use their approved home stadiums have been directed to notify the league of an alternative NPFL-approved venue no later than May 7, 2026.
“Any club with issues regarding venue availability must communicate an alternative accredited stadium before close of business on May 7, 2026,” the statement added. “Failure to do so will result in the league assigning a venue for the fixture.”
The league also warned that non-compliance with the directive could lead to sanctions, including the forfeiture of three points and three goals.
Matchday 37 fixtures will all kick off at 4 p.m. across the country, with key clashes including Enugu Rangers hosting Bendel Insurance, Rivers United traveling to Wikki Tourists, Kwara United facing Enyimba, Kano Pillars taking on Warri Wolves, and Remo Stars welcoming Bayelsa United, among others.
As the title race reaches a tense climax, attention is focused on Enugu, where league leaders Enugu Rangers will face Bendel Insurance in a crucial encounter with major implications at both ends of the table. A victory would edge Rangers closer to a historic ninth league title, while Rivers United remain close behind in second place.
Bendel Insurance, meanwhile, are pushing for continental qualification as they sit fifth on the table, while Rivers United face a difficult away trip against struggling Wikki Tourists, who are battling to avoid relegation.
