Political Tension Rises As Joe Igbokwe Threatens Consequences For Tinubu’s Opponents
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has warned that any opposition forces strongly resisting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid would face consequences for their actions.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Igbokwe made the statement in a post shared on his Facebook page on Tuesday, insisting that Tinubu was not elected to “come and play.”
He argued that the president was voted into office to reform and rebuild Nigeria, and therefore should be allowed to fully implement his agenda.
According to him, “We voted for PBAT to come and retool and rework Nigeria. We did not vote for him to come to play or continue business as usual.
“No sir. We must push this country to rise and function again. If you deliberately stand in the way, you will pay for it.”
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has advised opposition political actors against zoning the 2027 presidential ticket to the South, warning that such a move could give Tinubu a smoother path to re-election.
In a statement released by his camp, Atiku argued that fielding another southern candidate against a sitting southern president lacks strategic value and has no precedent in Nigeria’s democratic history.
He maintained that opposition parties should focus on building a strong coalition capable of unseating the incumbent rather than relying on emotional or symbolic political arrangements.
Atiku’s camp also questioned the political feasibility of a southern opposition candidate defeating a southern incumbent president.
