The party made this known in a letter signed by its National Secretary, Olu Agunloye, following the party’s national convention and presidential primary held in Bauchi State.
According to the SDP, the convention and primary election took place peacefully at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.
Adebayo emerged as the party’s sole presidential aspirant and secured the ticket unopposed after receiving the backing of delegates and party members.
In the letter titled “Submission of the Name and Other Details of SDP Presidential Candidate,” the party formally notified INEC that Prince Adewole Adebayo had been nominated as the SDP’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The party also requested the necessary nomination forms from the electoral commission to complete the candidate’s documentation process.
Among the documents requested were Forms EC9, EC9A, EC9B, EC9C, EC9D, and EC9E.
Adebayo previously contested as the SDP presidential candidate during the 2023 general elections.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed May 23, 2026, for its presidential primary election ahead of the 2027 polls.
The ruling party also dismissed reports claiming that the exercise had been postponed.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described reports circulating online about changes to the party’s timetable as false and misleading.
