Tragedy On The Highway! FCT Council Speaker, Aide Killed In Fatal Crash

The fatal crash reportedly occurred around 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday near Sheda village and involved a Mercedes-Benz vehicle and a Sino truck.

While the Speaker’s aide was said to have died instantly at the scene, Mohammed Ibrahim Ibwa reportedly passed away in the early hours of Thursday at the Abuja Teaching Hospital after he was transferred there from Legend Hospital in Gwagwalada for further treatment.

According to reports, the Speaker was travelling with two other occupants in the Mercedes-Benz when the vehicle collided head-on with the truck near Sheda village.

One of the passengers reportedly survived the accident and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Sources disclosed that the Speaker and his aides were returning from Kwali, where they had attended a political gathering, before the unfortunate incident occurred.

An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps, who spoke anonymously, confirmed the accident, stating that one victim died on the spot while two others, including the Speaker, were rescued and rushed to the hospital.

The official also revealed that the deceased aide’s body was deposited at the mortuary of Legend Hospital in Gwagwalada.

The late Speaker was later laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites in his Ibwa community within the Gwagwalada Area Council.

The tragic incident has plunged both the council and the local community into deep mourning.
