The Colombian singer announced the release of the much-anticipated track on Friday through her social media pages, writing: “Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!”
World football governing body FIFA also confirmed the song’s release via its official X account, stating that the track is now available across major streaming platforms worldwide.
According to FIFA, the song reflects the excitement, passion, and global energy expected to shape the 2026 World Cup tournament.
“Today, excitement for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ continues to grow with the release of Dai Dai, featuring Shakira and Burna Boy via Sony Music Latin,” FIFA stated.
“Available now on all major streaming platforms, the track captures the energy, passion and global spirit that will define the greatest show on earth.”
FIFA further revealed that proceeds generated from the song will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at raising $100 million before the end of the tournament to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world.
The organisation added that Shakira would donate her royalties from the track to the initiative, while Sony Music will match the first $250,000 raised with an additional contribution.
The inspirational anthem explores themes of resilience, ambition, unity, and global togetherness.
In several lyrics, the artistes pay tribute to football legends such as Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Mohamed Salah, among others.
The song also celebrates football-loving nations including Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, England, Germany, France, South Africa, Spain, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, and the Netherlands.
The release marks Shakira’s return to the FIFA World Cup music stage following the global success of Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and La La La for the 2014 tournament in Brazil.
For Burna Boy, the collaboration represents another major milestone for Afrobeats on the global stage, making him the second Nigerian artist to feature on an official FIFA World Cup song after Davido appeared on Hayya Hayya (Better Together) alongside Trinidad Cardona and AISHA.
Meanwhile, FIFA also announced that Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles on June 12.
The football body further disclosed that Shakira will co-headline the tournament’s final halftime show on July 19, marking the first halftime performance in FIFA World Cup history.
According to FIFA, the show will bring together global entertainers “at the intersection of sport, culture, and purpose” in support of the education initiative.
FIFA added that “Dai Dai” joins other songs already released from the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album, including “Lighter,” “Por Ella,” “Echo,” and “Illuminate,” with more tracks expected ahead of the tournament.
