Jonathan made the appeal on Wednesday in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world.

According to him, the country is currently facing challenges that require both prayers and concrete actions from citizens to overcome.

He urged Nigerians to embrace diversity as a strength rather than a source of division, stressing the importance of unity in nation-building.

The former President expressed optimism that Nigeria can achieve progress if citizens work together in harmony and shared purpose.

He said:

“On this occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, I extend my warmest greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters across Nigeria and the world.

“This celebration calls us to reflect on the great lessons of faith, obedience, and sacrifice. It reminds us that even in difficult times, absolute trust in God and willingness to put the greater good above ourselves will always lead to a path of blessing and hope.

“Today, our nation is going through challenges that demand our collective prayers and actions, especially for peace and security. We must see our diversity as a source of strength, not division.

“True nation-building requires the same spirit of devotion and duty that this festival stands for.

“As we celebrate, let us stand together with renewed resolve to safeguard our country and guarantee a secure, stable, and prosperous future for all Nigerians.

“May God bless our efforts and protect our Federal Republic,” he stated.
