Momodu said Jonathan, as a former Nigerian leader, still retains a strong political network and should not be underestimated in any future contest. He made the remarks during an interview on Arise TV while reacting to speculation about Jonathan’s possible comeback to active politics.

The veteran journalist also commended Jonathan’s courage in considering a return to the presidential race, years after leaving office in 2015.

According to him, “A former President of Nigeria must have his network; it makes the race more exciting for me.

“I salute his courage, because it takes courage to come back to say you want to be the President of Nigeria after you’ve left since 2015. That’s some 11 years ago.

“As for us at ADC, we welcome President Goodluck Jonathan anytime. We are ready to meet him on the day of election.”

Momodu Backs Atiku

Momodu also reaffirmed his support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing him as a seasoned and resilient political figure with deep experience in national politics.

He said Atiku’s long-standing involvement in governance and politics positions him as a unifying figure capable of leading the country.

Momodu stated, “Atiku has been a man of destiny from the beginning. He is still standing. It tells you that he has the hand of God in his life.

“I have no doubt in my mind that if he is destined to be the next president of Nigeria, Nigerians are going to see the goodness in this good man and they are going to support him.

“As for me, I will support him wholeheartedly because I’ve studied him, and he is the kind of bridge builder that we need at this time in Nigeria.”

He further described Atiku as a symbol of persistence and democratic values, saying his political journey reflects determination and belief in the democratic process.

Momodu added, “We need him as an example of tenacity. We need him as an example of a man who knows that democracy is not a fight; it is about doing the right things.

“And I salute him. He’s my role model.”
