2027: Voting Against Tinubu Would Be “Evil” — Delta Governor Sparks Debate Over In-Law Remark Nigerians React
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has urged residents of the state to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
He based his appeal on the family connection between Delta State and the President through the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The governor made this known during an interview on Arise Television, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has a unique link to Delta State through his wife.
Oborevwori said this relationship makes the President an in-law to the state and should be considered by voters in their political decisions.
He added that many people in Delta now view the President as part of their extended family and should therefore extend political support to him.
The governor also noted that the First Lady has helped strengthen support for the President across different groups in the state, including the Itsekiri and Urhobo communities.
In his words: “Among the candidates that emerged, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only one that has an affiliation to Delta State.
“The man is an in-law here, and it would be evil to vote against your in-law. It’s a family affair. In the South-South, the people in Delta are saying this is their own. They were deceived before; now they can’t.
“The First Lady is holding the state strong, and no Itsekiri person will vote against Tinubu. No Urhobo man will because their son is the governor.
“The confidence we have is in the people. His reforms and programmes are working very well. Sometimes when I commission projects and tell people we have money, it’s because of the reforms. If they are not working, we won’t get money.”
His remarks follow the First Lady’s recent installation as Utukpa-Oritse of the Warri Kingdom by the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, during a ceremony held in Warri.
