Justice D.I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered that popular social media personality, Blessing Nkiruka Okoro, also known as Blessing CEO, be remanded in a correctional facility pending the fulfilment of her bail conditions.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The defendant was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges of obtaining money by false pretence and alleged conversion of funds.
She pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against her.
During the court proceedings, her counsel, Nneka Nkama, requested that she be allowed to remain in EFCC custody until her bail conditions were perfected.
However, the EFCC’s counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, opposed the request, stating that the commission’s detention facility was already overcrowded and could not accommodate her.
After hearing submissions from both parties, Justice Dipeolu ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre until she meets the conditions attached to her bail.
The case was adjourned until June 22, 2026, for continuation of trial.
According to the EFCC, Blessing CEO allegedly received ₦36 million from a complainant, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye, between July 14 and July 17, 2024, under the claim that she had authority to lease a six-bedroom duplex located on Tunbosun Osobu Street in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
The commission further alleged that the complainant began renovation work on the property after making the payment, only for the actual owner to later surface and eject her from the premises.
The EFCC accused the defendant of converting the funds for personal use and charged her with obtaining money by false pretence and theft.
It maintained that the alleged offences violated relevant provisions of the law and urged the court to proceed with trial.
Blessing CEO, however, denied all allegations when the charges were read to her, setting the stage for full legal proceedings.
