Court Of Appeal Delivers Verdict On INEC’s Move To Deregister ADC, Other Parties
The Court of Appeal has ordered a temporary suspension of the judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and four other political parties.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The decision followed an application by INEC seeking a stay of execution of an earlier Federal High Court ruling that mandated the deregistration of the affected parties.
INEC had approached the appellate court in Abuja, arguing that the enforcement of the judgment should be put on hold pending the determination of its appeal.
The development comes after Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court ruled on Monday that the ADC, Action Peoples Party (APP), Action Alliance (AA), Accord Party (AP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) should be deregistered for allegedly failing to meet the constitutional and statutory requirements necessary to retain their registration as political parties.
