Ekiti State Governor and Governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji, is currently in a closed-door meeting with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the June 20 election, Wole Oluyede.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The meeting is taking place at Oluyede’s country residence in Ikere-Ekiti and has also drawn the presence of Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, alongside other All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in the state.

The development comes just hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Oyebanji winner of Saturday’s governorship poll.

Oyebanji secured re-election with a total of 319,224 votes, defeating his closest challengers — PDP candidate Olumayokun Oluyede and African Democratic Congress (ADC) flagbearer Dare Bejide — across Ekiti’s 16 local government areas.

The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, announced the results in the early hours of Sunday at INEC headquarters on Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti.

The ongoing meeting is believed to be part of post-election reconciliation efforts and wider consultations with key political actors in the state.

Earlier on Sunday, Oyebanji said he had already reached out to both Oluyede and ADC candidate Dare Bejide, stressing the need for unity after the election and urging stakeholders to prioritize the development of Ekiti regardless of party differences.

According to sources cited by The Nation, discussions at the meeting are focused on peacebuilding, post-election unity, and the continued progress of the state.
