In an interview with Channels Television, Fayose said political ambition should not come at the expense of trust among allies who have worked together over time.

He emphasised that political relationships must be built on mutual respect and confidence in order to preserve long-standing alliances.

Fayose also addressed his differences with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, recalling their involvement in the G5 political group and the internal tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over leadership matters.

According to him, those disagreements contributed to the strain in their relationship.

While acknowledging Makinde’s right to contest for the presidency, Fayose cautioned that such ambition should not lead to a breach of trust among political associates.

He maintained that members of the G5 must act in ways that preserve mutual confidence rather than undermine it.

“My disagreement with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is rooted in the issues within the PDP and tensions in the G5 group. Makinde has the right to contest for president, but he shouldn’t betray trust; we are all members of the G5. Trust is very important in politics, and once it is broken, it can affect long-standing relationships,” he said.
