He also said the party’s strong showing in recent bye-elections across the country reflects continued public trust in the ruling party’s governance approach, despite ongoing economic challenges.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda noted that the election outcomes demonstrate Nigerians’ ability to distinguish between short-term economic difficulties and long-term gains from reforms, infrastructure development, and institutional reforms.
He said, “The overwhelming victory recorded by our great party in Ekiti State and our strong performance in bye-elections nationwide represent a clear endorsement of the APC’s governance philosophy.
“These results show that Nigerians value leadership that prioritises development, accountability, stability, and citizens’ welfare.”
Governor Oyebanji was declared winner of the Ekiti governorship election after securing what the APC described as a decisive victory across the state. The party also won five of the six bye-elections held in different parts of the country.
Yilwatda said Oyebanji’s re-election reflects the reward for what he called effective leadership, inclusive governance, prudent resource management, and visible developmental progress in Ekiti State.
He stated, “The people of Ekiti have once again shown that performance remains the strongest campaign message in democracy.
“Governor Oyebanji’s re-election is a reward for visionary leadership, inclusive governance, prudent use of resources, and tangible development across the state.”
According to him, the Ekiti outcome further strengthens the APC’s position that performance-driven governance is politically rewarding, even during economic transitions.
He added that the Ekiti election has now become a reference point for the party nationwide.
“The Ekiti election has become a national reference point. It shows that when governments deliver results in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, security, and social welfare, citizens respond with trust and support,” he said.
“This victory sends a clear message that governance, not propaganda, remains the surest path to political legitimacy. The people of Ekiti have spoken in support of continuity, stability, and progress.”
Yilwatda further described Ekiti under Governor Oyebanji as a model of APC governance, citing investments in infrastructure, rural development, education, healthcare, agriculture, and workers’ welfare.
He added that the administration had successfully built broad political consensus while maintaining focus on development and stability.
He said Ekiti’s progress under Oyebanji reflects the APC’s commitment to people-focused governance and the broader impact of President Tinubu’s reform agenda aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economic resilience.
