“The results were released after the successful conclusion of the 2026 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at the Council’s Headquarters in Minna, Niger State,” the statement said.
The meeting was chaired by the Director of Basic Education in the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Folake David, who represented the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.
Dr. David expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination as well as the procedures that culminated in the release of the results, commending stakeholders for their contributions to a smooth process.
The meeting was attended by principals of secondary schools from across the country alongside members of NECO’s management team.
The Award Committee also approved July 22 and July 23, 2026, for the conduct of the BECE resit examination in Mathematics and English Studies.
NECO explained that the resit examination is intended for candidates who recorded deficiencies in Mathematics, English Studies, or both subjects.
According to the council, the exercise will provide affected candidates with an opportunity to make up for the deficiencies and secure the certification required for progression into Senior Secondary School One (SS1) without having to repeat an academic session.
